Passpoort ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over your information.
What Data We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Profile fields: citizenships, date of birth, education, work experience, languages, financial information, family details, and immigration preferences. You choose what to share.
- Usage data: pages you visit, features you use, and general interaction patterns. This helps us improve the product.
- Payment data: processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. We only keep a reference to your Stripe customer account.
How We Use Your Data
- Eligibility scoring: your profile data is used to calculate which countries and visa pathways you may qualify for.
- Personalization: showing you relevant insights, comparisons, and recommendations based on your background.
- Communication: sending you account-related emails such as password resets and email verification.
- Product improvement: understanding how users interact with Passpoort so we can make it better.
How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in readable form. Database backups are encrypted at rest.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
- We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
- We do not use third-party tracking cookies. The only cookies we use are for authentication (keeping you signed in).
Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations, you have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Export: download your data in a machine-readable format from your Settings page.
- Correction: update or correct any inaccurate information in your profile.
- Deletion: permanently delete your account and all associated data from your Settings page.
How to Exercise Your Rights
